Ich hatte dir ja in meinem letzten Beitrag schon angekündigt, dass es zu „Dew & Moss“ noch etwas mehr zu sehen geben wird.

I already let you know in my last post that there would be more to see about „Dew & Moss“.

Zu fast der gleichen Zeit, als ich mein fat quarter Päckchen endlich in den Händen hielt, kam von Candy Castle Patterns ein neues Schnittmuster für ein total schönes Kinderkleid heraus. (Hier hab ich dir schon mal eins ihrer Schnittmuster gezeigt)

Und ich meinte zu Alexandra, der Stoffdesignerin: das, in deinem Glowy Bosque Stoff, das wäre doch wunderschön.

About the same time that I received my parcel of fat quarter „dew and moss“ goodness, Candy Castle Patterns released a new design for a sweet child dress. (I showed you already one of their dresses here)

When I saw it, I said to Alexandra, the designer of “Dew & Moss”: that would look awesome in your “Glowy Bosque” fabric.  

Als Alexandra zwei Wochen später zu einer Blogparty einlud, um ihre erste Stoffserie zu feiern, hab ich natürlich ganz laut hier geschrien. Ich wollte unbedingt dieses Kleid für sie nähen.

When Alexandra asked about 2 weeks later to join her blog/release tour for her first fabric series, I obviously screamed „here, me“ very loudly. I absolutely wanted to make that dress for her sewing party.

Das „Strawberry Laces Lace Up Dress“ ist ein wirklich einfacher Schnitt und super schnell genäht. Nur ein kleines Schnittmuster für das Oberteil und eventuelle Taschen und zwei (oder drei) Quadrate für den Rock, die dann gerafft oben angenäht werden.

The “Strawberry Laces Lace Up Dress” is another easy pattern and comes together real quick. There’s only a pattern for the bodice and eventual pockets, the skirt are two or three simple squares, which are gathered to be added to the top.

Weil ich die Taschenlösung so schick fand, die aber ab Größe 8 nicht mehr im Schnittmuster vorgesehen ist, wurde mein Kleid eine Kombination aus oben 8 und unten 7. Wahrscheinlich kriegt man es auch irgendwie anders hin gebastelt, dass das Kleid trotzdem Taschen haben kann, wenn man die denn unbedingt will, aber da kam wieder meine große Faulheit mit mir durch. Und bei einer Größe Unterschied auch nicht zu sehen, oder?

Since I loved the idea of pockets, but they are no longer foreseen in the pattern starting at size 8, my dress is a combination of a size 8 top and a size 7 skirt.

You could probably add some pockets somehow with a little piecing of your own, if you really want the pockets after size 8, but my lazy side had the upper hand on this one. And I don’t think it’s visible anyway that I combined two sizes.

Bei diesem Kleid ist „weniger definitiv mehr“. Das Detail steckt im Rücken.

Ich finde diese gebundene Lösung einfach genial. Es sieht so schick aus. Und je nach Wahl der Schnur kann man da noch einmal schön Akzente setzen.

I love that criss crossed back. It looks super fancy. And depending on the kind of straps you use, you can add fun accents.

Das Schnittmuster schlägt je nach Größe mehr oder weniger Kreuzungen vor, da kann man sicher noch mit spielen. Ich hab hier auf das Schnittmuster gehört (ja, manchmal kann ich das auch).

The pattern recommands more or less loops in the back, depending on the size you are making, you can certainly improvise on this. I listened to the pattern. For once.  

Die junge Dame auf dem Bild feiert heute übrigens ihren 8. Geburtstag, und ich freue mich jedes Jahr wieder, dass sie uns ausgesucht hat, um Ratgeber auf ihrer Lebensreise zu sein.

Besides, that young lady on the picture is celebrating her 8th birthday today. And I’m happy and grateful every year that she chose us as her guides on her travel through life.

Dank ihr und ihrem kleinen Bruder ist auch das kleine Täschchen entstanden, was sie bei sich trägt.

Thanks to her and her little brother, I also got the idea for the little bag she is holding.

Vorlesen wird bei uns jeden Abend gewünscht und ein Buch, was immer wieder gefragt wird, ist „Die Streithörnchen“. Eine schön geschriebene, kurzweilige Geschichte und absolut geniale Zeichnungen dazu.

Night time reading is asked for every evening in our house and one of the recurring wishes is “The Squirrels that squabbled”. It’s a nicely written and fast read with beautiful illustrations.

Die kleinen Mäuse von der Titelseite wollte ich schon ewig mal auf Stoff bringen und „Gnomes Mushroom Homes“ war der perfekte Hintergrund für ein bisschen Nähmalerei.

I always wanted to put the mice from the first side on fabric and “Gnomes Mushroom Homes” was the perfect background for a little sewing illustration.

Daraus geworden ist eine wee braw bag nach dem Schnittmuster von Laura Cunningham.

Täschchen kann man ja nie genug haben, oder? Diese näht sich auch noch besonders schnell und leicht. Sie würde sich auch gut als schnelle Verpackung für ein kleines Weihnachtsgeschenk eignen. Ich muss auf alle Fälle noch die kleine Version dazu machen, die sieht bestimmt total putzig daneben aus.

You can never have enough bags, right? And this one sews especially fast and easy. I can imagine it as a perfect gift wrapping, too. I definitely need to make the small version, to see how cute it looks beside the big one.  

Und da wir gerade von Täschchen reden und ich ja im Titel von Geschenken sprach: ich habe auch noch eine sew together bag aus Alexandra’s Stoffen genäht. Wenn dir dieses Schnittmuster noch nicht über den Weg gelaufen ist, bist du noch ganz neu in der Nähwelt und solltest das Thema unbedingt näher erforschen.

And since we are talking about bags and I was mentioning presents in the title: I also made a sew together bag from Alexandra’s fabrics. If you never made that pattern, you are clearly new to the sewing world and have to immediately research the subject.

Für mich ist dieses Schnittmuster von Sew demented eine Ikone unter den Reißverschlusstaschen. Jeder Quilter, der was auf sich hält, hat die garantiert schon genäht.

For me that sewing pattern by Sew demented is an icon of zipper pouches. Every quilter, proud of his name, definitely made one.

Die Tasche ist ein wahres Raumwunder und lässt keine Gestaltungswünsche offen. Dein schönster, liebster Stoff außen oder die Restblöcke vom letzten Quilt, man kann sich da so richtig austoben.

The bag is a real space wizard and leaves room for lots of personalizing on the outside. Your favourite fabric or the remaining blocks of a finished quilt, you can run totally wild there.

Meine Außenseite hat zwei „tell me a story“ Blöcke und viel „Glowy Bosque“, mit ein paar Wellen gequiltet, dazu ein paar Knötchenstiche mit „Glow in the dark“ Faden von DMC. Damit du die Tasche auch im Dunkeln wieder findest.

My exterior has two „tell me a story“ blocks and a lot of Glowy Bosque, quilted with some waves. I also added some French knots in “glow in the dark” thread by DMC. You’ll be able to find your back again, even at night.

Auch von innen kann sich eine sew together bag immer sehen lassen, finde ich.

A sew together bag is super fancy, even from the inside.
