Erinnerst du dich an die letzte Stoffserie von Mathew @misterdomestic, die ich hier vernäht hatte? Ich habe sie geliebt, obwohl so viel blau ja eigentlich gar nicht meins ist (aber Fische gehen bei uns Tauchern eben immer).

Do you remember the last fabric series by Mathew @misterdomestic that I got to play with here? I really loved it, although all the blue wasn’t exactly me (except fishes, fishes are always ok for us divers!).

Und dann hat Mathew kurz darauf seine neuen Playroom-Stoffe gezeigt und ich war hin und weg: total meine Farben (es gab pink!!!), tolle Muster, ein Textprint und absolut nicht nur für Kinder geeignet. Obwohl ich natürlich erstmal nur Dinge für meine Süßen im Kopf hatte.

And shortly after that party Mathew showed the first strikeoffs of his new „playroom“ series and I was smitten: totally my colors (there was pink!!!), fabulous patterns, a textprint and absolutely not only for kids, although it’s inspired by his sweet daughter Helena. I of course had projects for my kids in mind almost instantly.

Die zeig ich dir jetzt im Detail. Denn ich durfte wieder mit den schönen Stoffen von Mathew spielen, manches davon hat es sogar ins lookbook von Art Gallery Fabrics geschafft. Fühlt man sich ja gleich wie ein Model im neuen Modemagazin, obwohl ich gar nicht zu sehen bin.

That’s what I’m going to show you today in detail. Because I again was allowed to play with Mathews fabrics. Some of the makes even made it into the Art Gallery fabric lookbook. I felt like a model in the newest fashion magazine. And I’m not even in the pictures.

Ich hab diesmal nicht nur Baumwolle vernäht, sondern auch die total lustigen „Fingerpaint“ Jerseys mit den Handabdrücken. Es gibt noch den „Belle Aquarelle“ Farbkasten als Jersey. Mathew durfte jedoch aussuchen, welche Jerseys er mir schickt. Ich hab mich überraschen lassen.

I didn’t only work with the cotton this time, but also with the fun “Fingerpaint” knits. The “belle aquarelle” also comes in knits, but I had Mathew surprise me by making him choose 2 knits to sew with.

Das war mein erstes Mal mit Art Gallery Jersey. Qualitätsmäßig fühlen sie sich so gut an, wie die Baumwolle, allerdings auch sehr dünn. Das Tragegefühl ist natürlich toll.

This was my first time sewing with Art Gallery knits. They feel as good as the cottons, quality wise. Although I think they are rather thin compared to other knits. But the feel on your skin is of course really nice.

Den blumigen Rayon aus der Serie hab ich mir hinterher noch gekauft. Mal sehen, was ich da noch daraus mache. Aber das ist eines meiner Lieblingsmotive aus der Serie, dieses bunte Blumenmeer. Das war ein Fall von „muss haben“.

I also bought the „Flowers all around“ rayon later on. Not sure yet what to make of it. But it’s definitely one of my favourite motives of the series, a field of flowers. It totally was a “must have” buy.

Für meine Kinder gab es also zueinander passende „Raglan-Jumpsuits“ nach dem Schnitt von Kibadoo. Der Schnitt war wunderbar erklärt, gut zu verfolgen, obwohl ich beim Reissverschluss doch etwas ins Schwitzen gekommen bin. Aber eine Naht nach der anderen hat alles gut geklappt.

So my kids got matching jumpsuits after the pattern by Kibadoo. The pattern was well explained and easy to follow, although I got a little stressed out by the zipper part. But one seam after the other led to a beautiful finish.

Und ausgezogen werden die „Onesies“ am Wochenende eher selten.

And the „onesies“ are rarely taken off on the weekends.

Dann hab ich natürlich noch die Baumwollstoffe vernäht.
Ich habe die Serie gesehen und wollte von Anfang an eine „patchwork bench“ aus dem „Handmade Style“ – Buch von Anna Graham machen. Gesagt, getan!

I saw that series and wanted to make a “patchwork bench” from the book “Handmade Style” by Anna Graham. No sooner said than done.

Da ich schon eine dieser Sitzbänke gemacht hatte und quasi nur neu bezogen habe, hat das Ganze auch nur so 1,5 Stunden gedauert. Und ich finde den Textprint mit den Spielzimmer-Regeln so wunderbar als Rand. Ich bin total verliebt in dieses Möbelstück. Und überhaupt: seine Möbel selber machen hat doch echt was. Und es ist wirklich nicht so schwer, wenn man Anna’s Hinweise beachtet.

Since I already made one bench, I only sort of upholstered the one I had and it must have only taken about 1.5h from cutting to finish. I love the “Playroom Rules” Print as boarder. And I’m totally smitten with this new piece of furniture. I mean, making your own furniture is so cool anyway. And really easy, if you follow all of Anna’s tips and tricks.

Aber ich hab ja 2 Kinderpopos, die sich setzen wollen, und daher kam im Nachhinein noch die Idee für einen Sitzsack. Das Schnittmuster ist von Art Gallery Fabrics und gibt’s hier gratis.

But I have two kid bottoms that want to sit, and so came the idea to add a bean bag. The pattern is available for free from Art Gallery Fabrics.

Ich habe schon öfter das Internet nach „bean bags“ durchwühlt, um meinen Kindern eine gemütliche Leseecke zu gestalten. Nun konnte ich ihn selbst nähen. Und auch noch passend zur neuen Sitzbank.

I have searched the internet for some time now for a bean bag to add as a cute reading corner in the kids room. Now I was able to make my own. And even to match it with the new bench.

Das war übrigens mal wieder so ein „och-das-geht-doch-schnell“-Projekt, das sich im Nachhinein jedoch als langwieriger entpuppte. Bitte sag mir, dass dir das auch passiert.
Streifen schneiden, zusammen nähen, in Quadrate schneiden, die wieder zusammen nähen, alle 6 Seiten quilten (kein Pappenstiel, denn zusammen sind sie so groß wie ein klassischer Quilt), zusammen nähen, füllen.

This was one of these „oh-that’ll-go-fast“ projects that take way more time in the end. Please tell me that happens to you too!
Cutting strips, sewing them together, cut them into squares again, sew those back together. Quilt all the squares that together are as big as a twin quilt, sew them into a cube and fill’em up.

Ich habe außerdem ein inlay genäht, denn so geheuer sind mir diese ganzen Styropor-Kügelchen nicht. Das Innenteil ist dann auch zugenäht und die Außenhülle hat einen Reißverschluss, eventuell muss ja doch mal etwas aufgefüllt werden.

I also added an inlay because I totally don’t trust those EPS beads. The inley is sewn closed after filling and the outside has a small zipper, if ever there is a need for refill.

Nun steht dem gemütlichen Lesen nichts mehr im Wege!

Now all that is missing is a pile of books to spend the day!

Aus den Resten sind noch ein Memory Bear (Schnitt von Funky Friends Factory) und neue Federn für die Stickbären entstanden. Little Miss O wollte auch noch ein neues Outfit. Und ein paar Reste schwirren hier noch rum, die noch zu Kissen verarbeitet werden sollen. Und irgendein Täschchen hätte ich mir auch noch gerne genäht. So nur für mich.

From the scraps I also made a „Memory Bear“ (pattern by Funky Friends Factory) and new feathers for the Stitched bears we already had. Little Miss O wanted a new outfit, too. And there are some scraps that are already assembled to become some cushions. And I would have loved to make me a little bag or zipper pouch or something. Something just for myself.

Du siehst, diese Stoffserie hat es mir wirklich angetan. Und nicht nur mir, sondern auch all den anderen „Master Makern“, die an der #agfplayroom Stoffparty teilnehmen. Hüpf unbedingt mal rüber zu instagram und schau es dir an. Und ich verspreche: es muss nicht nur für Kinder sein.

As you can see, I really love that series and the ideas won’t stop. And I’m not alone with that feeling, all the other “master makers” that participate to the #agfplayroom party, have it too.
